Seventh Assignment/ Due by Friday

Dear Fifth Graders,

What is your favorite winter memory? I would like you to write a SHORT paragraph describing your favorite winter memory..... was it traveling? Sledding? Snoshoeing? Looking for deer tracks? Decorating your house for the holiday? A gathering with family and friends?

Here is mine.....

My favorite winter memory, was not of a time where it was wet and sloppy outside, but it was a memory when it was actually hot and sunny! When I was in fifth grade, my family and I traveled to Arizona for the holidays. When we arrived, my eyes were full of amazement. Who would have thought that you would have put holidays lights on a Christmas tree!?? I thought that it was so different to see the houses decorated and glittered in a different fashion. I traded my snowpants and hats for shorts and a bathing suit. We visited with my grandparents for the week, and spent the week swimming, shopping, golfing, searching for golf balls and opening gifts. It was fun to experience a holiday without snow. I love the warm weather, so this was the perfect holiday for me!

My favorite memory would be that every year my mom will buy us each a pair of P.J.s, and on Christmas Eve, right before bed, we'll open them. At about 9:00pm on Christmas Eve, you'll hear alot of squealing and "thank you"s from the North house.

Another favorite memory I have was my Christmas when I was 7 or 8 years old and we (my family and I) held a 4 family party. There was 20 people. I'll never forget being thrown into a snowbank in my jeans and sweatshirt in the dark. That was probably one of the "funnest" Christmases ever.

One of my favorite winter memories was one day when my sister and I were making a giant snow fort with big stashes of snow. When I was making a snow tunnel in our fortress, I found a clump of pre-made snow balls. I added them to our fortress. When I was finished, I looked at our snow fortresses. It looked really nice.

Another favorite winter memory I have is when I had a skiing lesson at Cypress (a skiing hill in Vancouver). That week, my sister and I were the only students for our instructor. So we got more attention and we got to go on harder runs. It was sort of like a private lesson! I even got to go on a black diamond! It was really fun!

One of my favorite winter memories was when it had just snowed. My sister, Jessica, and I couldn't wait to go outside to play. When school was finally over, we rushed out to our porch, where most of the snow was. We built a huge snowman, it took both of us pushing as hard we could just to move the head. As soon as we were done, we stood back and admired it. But Jessica accidentally bashed in to it, and it went sailing off the porch. There was a big thud as it hit the ground. At first we were disappointed, but we made another one that was way bigger and neater. When we finally finished, we went inside and admired it from there, so no more accidents would occor. That is just one of my winter memories.

My favorite winter memory would be getting my pet lizard, Rocky.
Three years ago, I was wanting to get a pet of my own. I wanted an armadillo lizard. At Christams, when we went to open presents, I saw a large terrarium from "Santa".
A couple days after that, we drove to Petco and bought Rocky. That was
my favorite Christmas ever!

My favorite Christmas and winter memory is when I was in 1st grade and finally lost my 1st tooth. My Grandpa and I were bringing a donkey and 2 sheep for a live nativity at his church when a wild sheep came behind me and knocked me into the fence --face first. He was not a "chosen" sheep. I lost 2 teeth the next week.

My Favorite winter memory was when we were at my cousins house and everyone was over which all together is about 26 people. So anyway my oldest cousin, Travis, is 16 and the parents went out to dinner. When they were gone he took us hostedge and then he through us all out into a snow bank in the dark, then he made us watch the jewlery selling channel thing on TV. The channel was boring but over all it was soo much fun I know it doesn't sound fun but if you were there it was!

My favorite winter memory is when I lived in Texas, my family would get up early in the morning when it was still dark and I would dump out reindeer food in the grass and we would pack the car and head to the airport. We would take a three hour plane ride to Minnesota to see my relatives. We would go stay at my grandma an grandpa's house and then on Christmas Eve they would have a christmas party and all my cousins and aunts and uncle's would come. We would eat, open presants and go on a scavenger hunt. After the party we would go to bed because the next morning on Christmas Day we would go to my other grandma and grandpa's in Wisconsin. We would celebrate Christmas with one of my other aunts and uncle and my great aunt and great grandma. After Christmas we would stay at there house for awhile and then we would head back to Texas. I loved seeing snow in Minnesota and Wisconsin and then going back to nothing. I wil remember that memory for the rest of my life.
